酔っ払いの電話

A drunk phoned police to report that thieves had been in his car.

一人の酔っ払いが車を荒らされたと警察に電話をしてこう叫んだ。

"They've stolen the dashboard, the steering wheel, the brake pedal, even the accelerator," he cried out.

「泥棒はダッシュボードとハンドルとブレーキペダルにアクセルまで盗んでいったんですよ。」

However, before the police investigation could start, the phone rang a second time and the same voice came over the line.

警察が調査に乗り出そうとしたら再び電話が鳴って、同じ男の声がした。

"Never mind," he said with a hiccup, "I got in the back seat by mistake."

「気にしないで下さいよ。間違って後ろの席に乗り込んじゃった」としゃっくりをしながら言った。
